Journal notes
For years I resisted the temptation to jump head-first into
the digital world. My husband (now on his second iPad) willingly and
enthusiastically made the leap, but I have always been kind of a pen and paper
sort. It goes without saying that eventually I had no choice, and now
surprisingly find myself somewhat dependent on the various electronic media
conveyors I am surrounded with.
I’ll bet that many of our readers are the same way. You
probably are communicating a great deal by e-mail, follow your old classmates
on Facebook, shop at Amazon, read a few things on Kindle, etc. Looking back
five years ago, you probably never thought you would be here.
Five years ago we felt the same way about digital media as
it applies to our magazine, but five years ago, the iPhone had not even been
introduced. Time flies in the digital world! Now, we are excitedly working on
several digital enhancements that we know will benefit our readers and our
advertisers.
The first is an iPad/iPhone version of FLCAJ, due for release with the August (next) issue. It will be a
free downloadable version that you can take with you and read whenever you have
an extra minute or two. We are testing it right now and it looks great!
The second thing is our new and fully-functional CondoJobs
App for iPhone and Android devices. Long recognized as the premier recruiting
service in the industry, CondoJobs is now available to provide up-to-the-minute
information to those seeking employment in community association management. It
is now possible to request information about jobs directly from your phone. Try
it at www.condojobs.com/mobile.
And thirdly, our soon-to-be-live HelpNet App will make our
various directories and service providers available on your phone, iPad, or
other mobile device when you need them. If you happen to be on the property and
need to talk to one of our experts, the app will get you there in two or three
clicks. It has never been easier to get the help you need to manage your
community effectively!
Needless to say, we are proud to offer these new products to
our readers. We hope that they make it easier for you to find the information
you need when you need it. I’m even using the apps on my iPhone—and that’s
saying a lot!
